What a lovely Day! Oh I do like to be beside the seaside........warm wind, warm sea and good company. Many thanks to Leslie, Zainab and Justine from Multicultural Whangarei for organising this event.
We had a really informative talk by members of Waipu Cove Surf Lifesaving Club, a tour of the clubhouse, inspected the the high speed rescue craft then played beach cricket. A few of us braved the considerable waves but had great fun learning to dive through breakers, body surf and boogie board accompanied by our personal lifeguard!
We enjoyed a shared picnic and, those who didn't swim, had a stroll along the beautiful sandy beach or just chatted taking in the stunning views. Fortunately the welcome rain held off until late afternoon but, even then, it wasn't enough.
