Happy Thanksgiving

It’s that time of the year where early in the morning we line up outside the shops waiting for the doors to open and grab the massive sales of the year. Yes, Its Thanksgiving.

The evening was both interesting and informative where Canadian host Liane Blaire (Founder of WINGS) co-hosted with American host Leslie Allen, (Chair of WINGS executive committee) and Deirdre Nicholls (Secretary of WINGS) spoke about the history of thanksgiving and its traditional aspects.

The history was very fascinating. Thanksgiving actually lasted for 3 days which was celebrated by 50 Pilgrims and 90 Wampanoag Indians to mark a successful growing season which was after a failed harvest were many pilgrims starved to death.

Some fun facts were shared which was very interesting such as, American eat 46 million turkey each thanksgiving. WOW! that’s amazing and each year the President of the U.S pardons a turkey and spares it from being eaten (Lucky Turkey!!).

Both Canadian and American families gather to feast on turkey and watch football.

Our evening did not end watching the football but certainly with delicious aroma of homemade food which filled the room. Surrounding the Turkey, like the planets orbiting the sun were mouth-watering diverse dishes enjoyed by all of us.

A good number of people attended this evening. Most of them dressed for the occasion. Could there have been a better way to end the day?
